You also need to give your business a name, such as John Doe Associates, and register it with either the city or county clerk where ever you are supposed to do that in your area. Yes, it will cost you only a few dollars. But... in doing so, you will be able to write off the cost of doing business in your home. If you have a single room in your house where you can operate your computer, set up a work table, and some shelves where you can store your office supplies... you will be able to deduct the square footage of your work area as a percent of the overall square footage of your house. For example, my home in Pennsylvania has as office that is separate from my company's office in New Jersey. It takes up about 20% of the total living space in my home. I also have a storage area that adds another 5% of space for keeping a lot of business supplies. When tax time comes around, I am able to deduct 25% of my mortgage payments (you can deduct your rent costs, as well), 25% of my total home heating and electrical costs and even 25% of my garbage disposal costs. I use my telephone at home for about 75% of my business, so I mark through all my calls with a yellow hi-lighter and deduct all of those calls and telephone service charges as a business expense. You would be amazed at how much less I have to pay in overall state and federal income tax as a result of those deductions. Keep a record of all your business expenses, from pencils and pens to computer equipment. If you travel anywhere for business purposes, you can deduct your mileage costs. If you go on vacation, try to arrange a business visit with one of your customers. Bring a form with you for the customer to sign, indicating that you held a business session with that person. Be sure to date the form and supply the reason for the business meeting... such as, a discussion of marketing procedures, working with FFA pages, etc. You can deduct part of your vacation costs. Ask your Accountant about this. In fact, let your Accountant set up this whole procedure for you. You can save big bucks in travel expenses, and the IRS will not question this procedure providing that you keep good records. (Ask your Accountant how much of your expenses can be deducted for meals, room, transportation, tips, etc. Just make sure you are working with an Accountant who is "dedicated" to helping you save money... the right way!) SETTING UP YOUR WEB SITES The first thing you are going to need is a web site with your own sales web page, and your own online copy of this report. You cannot sell this online report as you see it now, unless you plan to only sell the "Double-Payment" Formula report and NOT join any of the programs.
